SUBJECT: Art in Public Places Committee M,ion- Holiday Lighting
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to provide you with an update on the Art in Public
Places Committee recommendation regarding the January 17, 2018 Commission referral of the
following item: "Discussion Regarding Keeping the Entrance to Miami Beach Lit Up Year -Round."
On February 20, 2018, the Art in Public Places Committee met and a motion was made by Michael
McManus, seconded by Maria Elena Ortiz and passed unanimously stating Art in Public Places
should not be involved in or opine on the City's Holiday Lighting program because this is not public
art or under the purview of Art in Public Places.
