RESOLUTION NO. 73-14161
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Special Ad Hoc Tennis Stadium
Advisory Committee be and the same is hereby created. Said
Committee shall consist of 21 members to be appointed; to
have the qualifications and the rights, duties and respon-
sibilities as hereinafter delineated.
Membership of said Committee shall be comprised of
21 members , each Councilman to appoint 3 members . All
members shall hold office at the will of the Council. All
members of the Committee shall be persons who possess a demon-
strable background of interest in the field of tennis and who
possess a record of active participation in programs and
movements designed and intended to foster, encourage, and
enhance the sport of tennis . Members of the Committee shall
be residents of Miami Beach or those who have a substantial
business interest in Miami Beach. The members of the Committee
shall be charged with the sole and exclusive duty and respon-
sibility of conferring with and aiding and advising the
Architects retained by the City for planning a Tennis Stadium
for the City of Miami Beach. The duties and responsibilities
of the Committee shall be purely advisory and recommendatory.
The Committee shall further have the duty and responsibility
of making such suggestions to the City Manager and the proper
administrative officials of thei
C ty as are designed to
achieve the objective of the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach, Florida, to have a Tennis Stadium that will be unrivaled
and unsurpassed in the Nation in its construction, facilities,
attributes and appurtenances .
The Committee shall meet and organize at the
eatliest possible time immediately following its formulation.
Its meetings shall be held at such times and places as shall
be fixed and determined by it. The City Manager is hereby
directed and authorized to furnish, supply and make available
to the Committee suitable and proper accomodations for the
transaction of the business of said Committee. The Committee
shall submit to the City Council and to the City Manager
interim reports as to the performance of its duties and respon-
sibilities as hereinabove delineated.
