RESOLUTION NO. 73-14164
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA,
ADOPTING A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI
BEACH HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION CALLING
FOR NATIONAL UNITY .
WHEREAS, Joseph Abelow, individually and representing
the Miami Beach Homeowners Association duly appeared before the
City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, at its regu-
larly convened meeting on October 17, 1973 , and presented a
resolution of said Association, which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference, and
WHEREAS , the said Joseph Abelow, individually and as
representative of the Miami Beach homeowners Association requested
that the City Council approve and adopt said resolution and the
City Council being fully advised in the premises ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that copies of said Resolu-
tion be transmitted to the President of the United States , the
Governor of the State of Florida, all members of the Congress of
the United States, and all members of the United Nations .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 17th day of October 1973.

RESOLUTION FOR NATIONAL UNITY
WHEREAS, the Russo-Arab Holy Day sneak attack against Israel was
an act of treachery, deceit and blasphemy; and
WHEREAS, that attack was also a "Psychological Pearl Harbor"
attack against the United States, itself. Russia believed the
US would be virtually paralyzed and unable to react because o
dissension and discord in the US over Watergate, Agnew, etc; and
WHEREAS, vital US interests and world peace are also threatened by
the Russo-Arab attack, which defied and mocked our repeated
commitments for the survival of the State of Israel and the
maintenance of peace in the Middle East; and
WHEREAS , Russia and the Arab countries have again sabotaged the
United Nations, debasing it into a willing tool for Russian
aggression and treachery; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to have national unity in these United
States, as we face the great overriding problems of a pussihie
major confrontatioi that was thrust upon us by the Russo-Arab
attack against Israel;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. We support President Richard Nixon ' s leadership of our
great national effort - and we commend the actions he has
already taken to resupply Israel , to insure its survival, and
to restore peace in the Middle East.
2. We call on all people and all organizations, to declare a
moratorium on major aspects of internal discord that could
distract the President from placing his full concentration on
the vital problems of war facing this nation , as a result of
Russia' s duplicity and deceit.
3. We commend the Congress of the US for having repeatedly,
over the years, called for the supply of arms to Israel, so
necessary for her defense and survival; and for having so
correctly assessed the ever increasing dangers, in the massive
3 to 1 Russian buildup of arms, planes and tanks in Egypt and
Syria.
