RESOLUTION NO. 73-14188
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING
APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO COUNCILMAN
HERBERT MAGNES FOR HIS PUBLIC SERVICE.
WHEREAS, HERBERT MAGNES has served as Councilman
1 of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, continuously since
November 18, 1969, with unsurpassed honor, dignity, decorum,
courage, leadership, sagacity, and humanitarianism, and
WHEREAS, the said HERBERT MAGNES, during his brilliant
tenure of office, gave unstintingly to the City of Miami Beach
and its people, the full measure of his splendid intellect,
his compassionate heart, his tireless devotion, and energy,
to the duties and responsibilities of his office, and
WHEREAS, his extraordinary achievements in the area
of advanced social legislation, including Rent Control, Public
Housing, Minimum Housing Standards Board, and Public Safety
Codes, have earned for him an enduring chapter in the annals
of the City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS, the said HERBERT MAGNES was, and is, a kindly
and compassionate public official who never questioned the
motives, or sought to injure any person, and was guided always
in his actions only by the leitmotiv of "Is it right?" and
"Does it serve the good of the City and its people?" , and
WHEREAS, to the immeasurable regret of his fellow
Council members, the said HERBERT MAGNES has determined by
his own volition to seek surcease for a time from his
indefatigable labors for the public good, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CI'T'Y COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that by his relinquish-
ment of office by the said HERBERT MAGNES, the public has lost
a loyal and devoted servant and his fellow Councilmen will
miss a true friend and brilliant colleague. His public career
and his loyalty to his principles and to his confreres will
always be a lucent inspiration to all, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a suitably engraved copy of this
Resolution be presented to the said COUNCILMAN HERBERT MAGNES
as a symbol of the profound affection and lasting gratitude
and admiration of all those whom he has served so long with
unsurpassed fidelity and devotion.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 7th day of November 1973 .
