Resolution 74-14237 RESOLUTION NO. 74-14237
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, (79.ems it to be necessary for the welfare of said City and
the inhabitants thereof to acquire for the purposes of completing
the Civic-Convention Center Complex land plan, the following
described parcel of land situate, lying and being in the City of
Miami Beach, Dade County, Florida, to wit :
Lot 2 in Block 7-A and that part of a strip
of land 30 feet wide and marked "Bridle
Path" adjacent to and lying East of Lot 2
of ALTON BEACH REALTY COMPANY 'S SUBDIVISION,
OF GOLF COURSE SUBDIVISION, according to the
Plat thereof, recorded in Plat Book 6, at
Page 26, of the Public Records of Dade
County, Florida, together with all improve-
ments thereon , less the westerly 3 feet of
said Lot 2,
said property being also commonly known as 1937 Meridian Avenue,
Miami Beach, Dade County, Florida, and
WHEREAS , Mr. S . Z. Bennett, the City ' s Real Estate
Consultant, has negotiated with the owner of the hereinabove de-
scribed property for the purchase of said property by the City from
the owner and his negotiations have culminated in a proposed contract
wherein and whereby the owner of said property agrees to sell and the
City agrees to buy the said parcel of land, at the purchase price
of Two Hundred Thirty-One Thousand One Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars
and No Cents ($231, 125 . 00) , to be paid as follows : $153, 650.00 to
the Seller for her interest, $65, 000. 00 to the Lessees for their
interests, and $12,475.00 to the Attorney for the Sellers, the
proposed transaction to be closed not later than January 28, 1974, and
WHEREAS, said proposed agreement contains and sets forth
other terms and conditions with which the City Council is familiar,
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the City' s Real Estate
Consultant have recommended the approval and execution of said pro-
posed agreement, and the City Attorney has approved the same as to
form and legality, and
WHEREAS , the City Council deems it to be in the best
interests of the City of Miami Beach and its inhabitants that said
contract be agreed to; entered into; and executed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that it hereby accepts and
approves the recommendation of the City Manager and Mr. S . Z. Bennett
and agrees to purchase the same for the said sum of Two Hundred
Thirty-One Thousand One Hundred Twenty-Five Dollars and No Cents
($231, 125 . 00) , subject to a suitable and appropriate agreement for
such purpose to be entered into by the parties and to be approved
by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the proper financial officers be and they
are hereby authorized to make the disbursements called for by said
contract.
