A RESOLUTION CREATING 7-MEMBER PARKS
AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee be and the same is hereby created. Said Committee
shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed to have
the duties and responsibilities as hereinafter delineated.
Membership of said Committee shall be comprised of
seven (7) members , each Councilman to appoint one (1) member.
All members shall hold office at the will of the Council .
Members of the Committee shall be residents of Miami Beach or
those who have a substantial business interest in Miami Beach.
The members of the Committee shall elect a Chairman and Vice-
Chairman. The Committee shall be charged with duty and respon-
sibility to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council,
City Manager, and the Director of Parks and Recreation in matters
pertaining to public parks and recreation, and to cooperate with
other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement
of sound park and recreational planning and programming. The
duties and responsibilities of the Committee shall be purely
advisory and recommendatory. The Committee shall further have
the duty and responsibility to advise with the Director of
Parks and' Recreation on problems relating to the acquisition
and development of park and recreation areas , facilities ,
programs and services , and to help interpret the policies and
functions of the park and recreation development to the public.
The Committee shall meet and organize at the earliest
possible time immediately following its formulation. Its
meetings shall be held at such times and places as shall be
fixed and determined by it. The City Manager is hereby directed
and authorized to furnish, supply and make available to the
Committee suitable and proper accommodations for the transaction
of the business of said Committee. The Committee shall submit
to the City Council and to the City Manager interim reports as
to the performance of its duties and responsibilities as here-
inabove delineated.
