A RESOLUTION PLACING A SIXTY DAY
MORATORIUM ON ALL RESIDENTIAL
CONSTRUCTION IN ALL BUSINESS DISTRICTS
THROUGHOUT THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has duly found and determined that an emergency exists
within the City affecting the present and future needs , the
- good order, convenience, prosperity, and the general welfare
of the citizens of the City of Miami Beach by reason of
residential construction of considerable magnitude in those
use district zoned for business purposes , under the provisions
of the City 's Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance No. 1891, and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, is gravely concerned that such trend, if continued,
will seriously affect, if not destroy, the purpose and intent of
the comprehensive planning sought to be achieved by the pro-
visions of said Zoning Ordinance No. 1891 , and
WHEREAS , the proper administrative officials of the
City of Miami Beach have initiated, and are in the process, of
making extensive studies and analysis of the effect, and the
impact of such residential construction in the commercial areas
of the City of Miami Beach, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed by the City Council, that
immediate action is required by the City Council to halt such
construction for the purposes of enabling such studies and
analysis to be completed and to be presented to the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that upon the adoption of
this resolution, no permit shall be issued for a period of
sixty (60) days thereafter for the construction or reconstruction
of any residential building or structure designed or intended
to be used, in whole or in part, for any residential use, in any
use district in the City of Miami Beach, zoned for business or
commercial uses.
