A RESOLUTION APPROVING IN PRINCIPLE THE
PRELIMINARY PLANS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE DADE COUNTY MASTER PLAN, FOR WIDENING
COLLINS AVENUE FROM 60TH TO 73RD STREETS
IN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA;
CALLING A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER SAME.
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
passed and adopted its Resolution No. 13506 , on January 19 , 1972 ,
which approved in principle a Master Plan of the Florida
Department of Transportation, in conjunction with Metropolitan
Dade County, which provides for the widening of Collins Avenue
from 60th Street to 73rd Street in the City of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , the consultants employed to develop plans for
said widening have completed preliminary plans , which reflect the
Master Plan, and in addition thereto, include provisions for the
demolition of the existing 63rd Street overpass and the construc-
tion of a two-lane overpass onto Indian Creek Drive and a one-lane
overpass onto Collins Avenue, and further includes a five-foot
acquisition and widening of Harding Avenue from 67th to 71st
Streets ; and
WHEREAS , the City Manager has recommended to the City
Council that said preliminary plans be adopted in principle; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach has
reviewed e sewed the said preliminary plans in principle for said project,
and deems it to be in the best interest of the City and its
residents ;
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said preliminary
plans , in accordance with said Master Plan, for the widening of
Collins Avenue from 60th to 73rd Streets be and the same is
hereby approved and adopted, in principle, by the City of Miami
Beach, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that a public hearing be held on May 15,
1975 at 2 : 30 p.m. to discuss said preliminary plans as approved
in principle.
