A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, TO
APPLY TO UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH,
EDUCATION , AND WELFARE FOR A 50% MATCHING
FUNDS , SECTION 1204 , EXPANSION AND IMPROVE-
MENT GRANT , UNDER THE EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES SYSTEMS ACT OF 1973.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach, Florida, desires to
apply to the United States Department of Health, Education and
Welfare for a fifty percent (50%) matching funds , Section 1204 ,
Expansion and Improvement Grant, under the Emergency Medical
Services Systems Act of 1973, being Public Law 93-154 , in
connection with Emergency Medical Services System in the City
of Miami Beach; and
WHEREAS , said Section 1204 Grant is a two-year program,
the second year being subject to re-application procedures ; and
WHEREAS , provision is made in said Act for assistance
from the United States of America in defraying the cost of said
project; and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, has estimated that the first year proposed budget is
$261 ,689 with $130 , 845 (50%) allocated as the City 's share, and
the second year proposed budget is $206 ,240 with $103,120 (50%)
allocated as the City 's share;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Frank R. Spence, City
Manager of the City of Miami Beach, be and he is hereby authorized,
directed, and empowered, as the designated official of the City
of Miami Beach, to make application to the United States Department
of Health, Education, and Welfare, for a fifty percent (50%)
matching funds , Section 1204 , Expansion and Improvement Grant,
under the Emergency Medical Services Systems Act of 1973, being
Public Law 93-154 , for and on behalf of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, in connection with all matters pertaining to this
application, and any Grant contract that may be executed pursuant
hereto.
