A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF
AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT FOR TEMPORARY
GENERAL LABORERS SERVICES FOR THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH CONVENTION CENTER.
WHEREAS , an existing contract between the CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH and STAND-BY SERVICES , INC. , provides for the payment for
the services of General Laborers, at the City ' s Convention Center,
at a rate of Two and 68/100 Dollars ($2. 68) per hour, and
WHEREAS , said Agreement provides for proportional
increases in payment in accordance with any amendments to the
Federal Minimum Wage Law, and
WHEREAS , said Federal Minimum Wage Law has been duly
amended to provide for a minimum rate of Two and No/100 Dollars
($2. 00) per hour for such services , and
WHEREAS, said Agreement provides for a sixty-seven and
one-half percent (67 . 5%) markup of such minimum wage, or Three
and 35/100 Dollars ($3. 35) per hour, and
WHEREAS , the City Attorney has prepared an appropriate
amendment to the existing agreement whereby the services of such
General Laborers shall be paid for at said rate of Three and
35/100 Dollars ($3. 35) per hour, said Agreement otherwise to remain
in full force and effect, and
WHEREAS , the City Council deems it to be in the best
interests of the City of Miami Beach and its residents to enter
into said amendment to said Agreement,
NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the City
Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute
and deliver said amendment to said Agreement, for and in the
name of the City of Miami Beach, Florida; and that the financial
officers of the City be and they are hereby authorized and direct-
ed to make the disbursements called for in accordance with the
provisions of said Agreement.
