SOUTHERN POLICE INSTITUTE GRADUATION

This Letter to Commission is to advise the Mayor and Commission of the July 19th, 2002
graduation of Captain Lenny Alamo and Lieutenant John Bambis from the Southern Police
Institute (S.P.I.). The S.P.I. is an extension of the University of Louisville in Kentucky and
specializes in professional development programs. Captain Alamo and Lieutenant Bambis
were members of the 35th class of Command Officer Development.
Command Officer Development is a comprehensive management development program
consisting of a 400 hour, 10 week course designed to provide viable and practical solutions
for the complicated issues faced by today's law enforcement community. The in-depth
training focuses on a curriculum which is responsive to the ever changing social, economic,
and political influences which impact the law enforcement profession.
In addition to both successfully meeting this intense challenge, Lt. John Bambis received
special recognition with the Director's Academic Excellence Award. Our sincere
congratulations are extended to both Captain Lenny Alamo and Lieutenant John Bambis
for this tremendous achievement.
