A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING CHANGE ORDERS "DD" THROUGH
"LL" WITH DANVILLE - FINDORFF, INC., IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF
$62,679, AND APPROVING ADDITIONAL SERVICES FOR SPILLIS CANDELA
& PARTNERS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,440, FROM THE APPROPRIATED
FUNDS IN ACCOUNT NO. 364.2076.069358 FOR THE EXPANSION AND
RENOVATION OF THE BASS MUSEUM OF ART.
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission authorized an Agreement with Spillis
Candela & Partners/Arata Isozaki and Associates for the design of the expansion and renovation of the Bass
Museum of Art (the Project) on July 28, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission approved the construction contract with
Danville-Findorff, Inc. for the Project on December 3, 1997; and
WHEREAS, an appropriation and standing orders were established on March 1995, and on
December, 1997, respectively, for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Project is proceeding on schedule and is estimated to be completed in
December, 1999; and
WHEREAS, the approval ofthe attached Change Orders, "DD" through "LL," in the amount
of$62,679, and for the additional services for Spillis Candela & Partners, in the amount of $5,440, from the
appropriated funds in Account No. 364.2076.069358, will allow the City to timely complete construction
of the Project.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission
herein approve the attached Change Orders, "DD" through "LL," in the amount of $62,679, and for
additional services for Spillis Candela & Partners, in the amount of $5,440, from the appropriated funds in
Account No. 364.2076.069358, for the expansion and renovation of the Bass Museum of Art.

ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt the Resolution.
FUNDING:
Funds are available in the project's appropriated contingency allowance in account 364.2076.069358.
BACKGROUND:
On July 28, 1994, the City Commission authorized an agreement with Spillis Candela &
Partners/Arata Isozaki and Associates for the design of the Expansion and Renovation of the Bass
Museum of Art. On March 26, 1995, the agreement was executed for a total fee of $694,050,
$241,080 for reimbursables and $78,500 for Specialty Consultants.
On December 3, 1997, the City Commission authorized the award of a construction contract in the
amount of $6,450,500 to Danville-Findorff, Inc. for the Expansion and Renovation of the Bass
Museum of Art.
The items for which the Administration now seeks approval are for Change Orders "DD" through
"LL" in a not to exceed amount of $62,679. A listing of each change order, its purpose and amount
is attached. All changes and additional work have been verified by the City and by the
Architect/Engineer of record, Spillis Candela & Partners/Arata Isozaki & Associates (Attachment
No.1). The project's Building Committee has recommended that these design changes suggested
by Arata Isozaki be implemented.

The Administration also seeks approval for additional services for the architectural and engineering
re-design of Gallery 3 and the lighting dimming systems proposed by Arata Isozaki and
recommended by the project's Building Committee. This re-design requires changes to the
construction documents for which Spillis Candela & Partners has issued a proposal in the amount
of $5,440 (Attachment No.2).
CONCI,USION:
In order to complete construction, the Administration recommends that the Mayor and City
Commission approve Change Orders "DD" through "LL" in the not to exceed amount of $62,679
for Danville-Findorff, Inc. and the additional services for Spillis Candela & Partners in the amount
of $5,440 from the appropriated funds in account 364.2076.069358 for the Expansion and
Renovation of the Bass Museum of Art. The remaining balance in the construction contingency
account after these change orders are executed will be $206,060.
