2002-24994 Reso RESOLUTION NO. 2002-24994 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE PROPOSED USES OF THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR PROGRAM YEAR 2003. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach has been awarded grant funds from the United States Department of Justice under the "Local Law Enforcement Block Grant" Program for program year 2003; and WHEREAS, the total estimated funds for this Program are $351 ,722, of which $316,550 will be funded by the United States Department of Justice, and the remaining $35,172 will be funded by the City; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission approved the application and proposed uses of the Block Grant funds at its regular meeting of July 31,2002, via Resolution No. 2002-24928; and WHEREAS, the grant funds will be used to fund special overtime projects, traditional law enforcement equipment, and unfunded technology needs; and WHEREAS, this is the seventh year of funding under the Law Enforcement Block Grant Program, and the Miami-Dade Criminal Justice Council, the designated Advisory Board for the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program, has endorsed the proposed use ofthese funds; and WHEREAS, one of the requirements of the Grant is that the City hold a public hearing for the purpose of providing an opportunity for members of the public to discuss and/or comment upon the proposed uses of the funds, and said public hearing was duly held on September 25, 2002. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission, following a duly noticed public hearing, on September 25, 2002, herein approve and authorize the proposed uses of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds for program year 2003.
