SECURITY PREPARA~'IONS

The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to invite the Mayor and Commission to attend
the Miami Beach Police Department's Security Planning Meeting in preparation for the
High Holidays and the September 11th Memorial Services. The meeting will be attended
by representatives of the many Jewish congregations in our community. It will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29th in the Miami Beach Police Department's Training
Room, located on the 2nd floor.
Through a close partnership with our community's religious leaders, the potential threat of
terrorism disrupting these activities may be diminished and the overall safety of our City
further ensured. This meeting will be an interactive forum to discuss security
countermeasures designed to reduce each facilities vulnerabilities, promote security
awareness, and prove the opportunity for direct involve in the planning process.
