A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, WAIVING, BY 5/7THS VOTE, THE FORMAL BID
PROCESS, FINDING SUCH WAIVER TO BE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE
CITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE ADMINISTRATION TO ISSUE A STANDING
ORDER TO CINGULAR WIRELESS, PURSUANT TO STATE OF FLORIDA
CONTRACT #725-330-98-1, IN THE AMOUNT OF $72,000.00, FOR
PROVISION OF CITY-WIDE WIRELESS TELEPHONE SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the standing order for Cingular Wireless to provide City-wide
wireless telephone services expires on September 30, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Cingular Wireless provides services to the City under State Contract
#725-330-98-1; and
WHEREAS, Cingular Wireless is providing substantial savings under the State
Contract for wireless services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City
Commission waive, by 5/7ths vote, the formal bid process, finding such waiver to be in
the best interest of the City, and authorize the Administration to issue a standing order
to Cingular Wireless, pursuant to State of Florida Department Contract #725-330-98-1,
in the amount of $72,000.00, for provision of City-wide wireless tel hone services.

Funding is available from the Internal Service Fund for Information
Technology (Budget Account 550.1751.000485, FY2002-2003).
ANALYSIS
The City approved a bid award, Bid No. 97-98/99, in the amount of $76,923.00, on
November 17, 1999, to Cingular Wireless, for Cellular Equipment and Service. The
Cingular Wireless service has been satisfactory and the vendor continues to offer reduced
State pricing and services which are comparable to other State vendors. Currently,
Cingular Wireless provides city-wide wireless services under State of Florida Contract
#725-330-98-1 .
CONCLUSION
The administration recommends authorizing the Mayor and City Commission of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida, to waive, by 517ths vote, the formal bid process, finding such waiver
to be in the best interest of the City, and authorizing the Administration to issue a Standing
Order for Cingular Wireless, pursuant to State of Florida Contract #725-330-98-1, in the
amount of $72,000.00, for FY2002-2003, for city-wide wireless services.
