SUBJECT: 2018 BILLY SHOCKETT MEMO IAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The purpose of this LTC is to notify the Mayor and City Commission that the 7th Annual
Billy Shockett Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Normandy Shores Golf Club
(2401 Biarritz Drive) on Friday, April 27, 2018.
Funds raised at the Billy Shockett Memorial Golf Tournament benefit Miami Beach Parks
and Recreation programs, such as youth golf clinics for under -serviced and at -risk
children. If you are interested in participating or supporting the event, please see
attached.

Everyone in Miami Beach remembers Bil-
ly Shockett as a terrific friend and an out-
standing community leader. He loved to
play golf at Normandy Shores Golf Club.
Funds raised at the Billy Shockett Memo-
rial Golf Tournament benefit programs
for the Miami Beach Parks and Recrea-
tion which include youth golf clinics for
under -serviced children in Miami Beach.

significant funds for this exceptional golf
training program which impacts the lives
of many at risk youth in Miami Beach. We
look forward to beginning our 7th year of
the program, and seeing the smiles of the
children as they learn the skills and life
lessons that the game of golf teaches.

junior Program
Golf teaches youngsters to persevere in both
physical and mental challenges, through hands-
on professional training. The youth clinics are
taught by PGA professionals and are hosted at
Normandy Shores Golf Club. Through your
efforts, we were able to expand the instructional
program to a 40 week course that meets twice a
week. We are also able to purchase a SNAG
Coaching kit. S.N.A.G. stands for Starting New At
Golf, and will introduce children to golf in a non -
intimidating and fun way. This system will allow
us to bring golf instruction to the many Parks &
Recreational facilities on Miami Beach.
