A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO APPLY TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL
PROTECTION AGENCY, UNDER PUBLIC LAW 92-500,
FOR APPROVAL OF A RESEARCH DEMONSTRATION
PROJECT UNDER SECTION 1255 OF TITLE 33 USCA,
AND TO REQUEST APPROVAL OF THE PROJECT AND
A NOMINAL GRANT OF $1, 000 . 00 .
BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City Manager of the City of
Miami Beach be and he is hereby authorized and directed, for
and in the name of the City of Miami Beach, a Florida municipal
corporation, to apply to the Environmental Protection Agency,
under Public Law 92-500 (Chapter 26 of Title 33 USCA) , for
approval of a research demonstration project under Section 1255
of Title 33 USCA, and for preliminary approval of a permit for
ocean discharge under Section 1343 of said Title 33 and under
EPA Rules and Regulations on ocean dumping appearing in
Federal Register, Volume 38, No. 198 - Monday, October 15,
1973, pages 28610 through 28621.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the said City Manager be
and he is hereby further authorized and directed to obtain
approval of the project from the Environmental Protection
Agency, and to apply for and to receive from said Agency a
nominal grant of the sum of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000 . 00)
for the purpose of funding preliminary costs and expenses in
submitting further material in support of said application.
