Resolution 81-16730 RESOLUTION NO. 81-16730 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA URGING CONGRESS NOT TO REDUCE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS TO THE ELDERLY. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Beach Florida is the home for nearly sixty-thousand Social Security recipients, generating nearly $310 , 000,000 each year in revenues to the economy of this City; and WHEREAS , these retired residents of the City must be pro- vided adequate social security benefits to live in a safe and healthy manner ; NOW THEREFORE, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach Florida, hereby expresses its opposition to any Congressional reduction in Social Security benefits to the elderly. The City Clerk is hereby directed to ensure that all members of the Florida Congressional Delegation receive a copy of this Resolution. PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of July 1981.
