Resolution 81-16833 RESOLUTION NO. 81-16833 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A DONATION BY MR. JONAS GERARD OF A BICENTENNIAL COMPOSITE PAINTING TITLED "TO SPEAK OF UNITY" BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the City accept the gracious gift of a 3' X 6' bicentennial composite painting titled "To Speak of Unity" painted and donated by Mr. Jonas Gerard. FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, that said painting not be made available for sale and that it be hung in a prominent public area within City Hall in such a place where it would be readily accessible for the community to view. TO: Mayor Murray Meyerson and Mern¢ers of the City Commission FROM: I-ffa ')u City Manager SUBJECT: DONATION OF ART Mr. Jonas Gerard, a local artist who has exhibited in the Miami Beach Festival of the Arts for several years, has graciously offered to donate one of his original paintings to the City of Miami Beach. The bicentennial piece is a 3' X 6' composite painting titled "To Speak of Unity" and is appraised at a value of $ 4,500. Mr. Gerard has asked that the painting not be made available for purchase but that it hang in a prominent public area within City Hall readily accessible for the community to view. RECOMMENDATION 1 Due to the nature and quality of this painting, the Administration recommends approval .
