A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RENAMING OF JACKIE GLEASON
DRIVE TO FESTIVAL DRIVE FOR A PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED
THIRTY-EIGHT DAYS , SAID PERIOD TO RUN PRIOR TO AND
INCLUDE THE DATES OF THE 1982 MIAMI BEACH FESTIVAL OF
THE ARTS , FEBRUARY 6 AND 7 , 1982 ; PROVIDING THAT THE
MONTH OF FEBRUARY BE DECLARED FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS MONTH .
WHEREAS , the Fine Arts Board provides countless hours
of service that directly benefits the citizens and business
community of Miami Beach ; and
WHEREAS , the 1982 Miami Beach Festival of the Arts
will be held on Jackie Gleason Drive on February 6 and 7 , 1982 ;
and
WHEREAS , the Festival of the Arts is a cultural arts
program of major proportion , providing thousands of citizens
and tourists with art , music and fine foods ;
NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA , that Jackie Gleason Drive ,
being the same street located east of the Convention Center , be
renamed Festival Drive for the period of January 1 , 1982 , up
to and including the dates of the Festival , February 6 and 7 , 1982 .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH , FLORIDA , that the month of February be
declared " Festival of the Arts" month .
PASSED and ADOPTED this 29th day of December , 1981 .
