A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH AND
DR. VERNON E. THOMAS FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL
SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED IN CONNECTION WITH FIRE
RESCUE.
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 1906, providing for emergency medical services
to be provided by licensed physicians accompanying Fire Rescue personnel, was
adopted by the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach, pursuant to a vote of
the electorate on November 2, 1971 and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach adopted its
Resolution No. 81-16533 on January 21st, 1981, to become effective retroactive to
October 1, 1980, to provide for a ten percent (10%) across the board increase in
salary to said licensed physicians employed in Fire Rescue Services, said
compensation for starting employees to be increased by an annual amount of Three
Thousand One Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($3,150.00), as based on a ten percent
increase of the annual compensation of Thirty One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($31,500.00); and said compensation to those members of the medical staff have
been employed for one year or longer to be increased by an annual amount of Three
Thousand Four Hundred and Sixty Dollars ($3,460.00) as based on a ten percent
(10%) increase of the annual compensation of Thirty Four Thousand Six Hundred
and Fifty Dollars ($34,650.00), and
WHEREAS, an agreement has been prepared by the City Attorney, the
provisions of which the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach is familiar
with, for the employment of the following physician, to wit:
DR. VERNON E. THOMAS
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Miami Beach deems it to
be in the best interest of the said City, its citizens and residents, to enter into such
agreement with said physician to provide the aforesaid medical services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and the
City Clerk be and they are hereby authorized and directed to execute the said
agreement in the name of and on behalf of said City, and that the proper disbursing
and financial officers of the City make the disbursements called for by said
agreement from funds of the City available for such purposes.
