A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING CREATION
AND MAINTENANCE OF AN IMPREST CHECKING ACCOUNT
FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
BEACH WITH INTERCONTINENTAL BANK OF MIAMI
BEACH.
WHEREAS , the cost of handling vouchers on a daily basis
is about $25 per check and the processing of these checks usually
disrupts the normal flow of documents in the Accounting Division;
and
WHEREAS , in order to reduce the handling costs for the
writing of these checks, the creation of an "Imprest Checking
Account for the Police Department" with the Intercontinental Bank
of Miami Beach, in the amount of $35 ,000 . 00 for the purpose of
making payments for conducting special investigations has been
recommended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. An imprest checking account for the Police Depart-
ment in the amount of $35 ,000 . 00 be established at
the Intercontinental Bank of Miami Beach.
2. That the signatures of the Chief of Police and the
Assistant Chief of Police be required on all special
investigation checks of $1,000 . 00 or less.
3. That the signature of the City Manager as well as
that of the Chief of Police or Assistant Chief of
Police be required on all special investigation
checks between $1,000 .00 and $5 ,000 . 00 .
4 . That the maximum amount to be paid by such checks be
$5 ,000 . 00.
5 . That a full accounting be rendered by the Police
Department each time reimbursement of the checking
account is requested.
6 . That checks be prepared in two (2) record-keeping
and auditing copies.
7 . That initial funding is to come from currently uti-
lized funds for special investigations.
8 . That replenishments be from the Police Confisca-
tions Trust Account as those funds become available.
