A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,
FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FINANCE AND CITYWIDE
PROJECTS COMMITTEE, AND APPROVING THE WAIVER OF SPECIAL EVENT SQUARE
FOOTAGE FEES AND POLICE AND FIRE ADMINISTRATIVE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE
2019 MIAMI BEACH FITFEST EVENT,TO BE HELD IN NORTH BEACH FROM JANUARY 26-27,
2019, WITH SUCH WAIVER IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $5,290.00.
WHEREAS, the Miami Beach Fitfest ("Event") is scheduled to take place January 26-27,
2019, in and around the 73rd Street Beach Bowl, east of the North Beach Bandshell, in the City of
Miami Beach ("City"); and
WHEREAS,the Event is a two-day multi-sport and lifestyle competition,designed to create a
culture of sports and health and inspire the community to create and maintain a healthier lifestyle,
featuring an open water ocean swim, beach soccer, Zumba, CrossFit, and yoga, along with live
music, an organic farmer's market, farm-to-table dining, and a sponsor expo; and
WHEREAS, as a not-for-profit corporation, the applicant has requested and received the
following waivers that can be granted by the City Administration pursuant to the City's Special Event
Requirements and Guidelines: the special event application, permit, and vehicle access fees; and
WHEREAS, at the February 23, 2018 Finance and Citywide Projects Committee meeting,
the Finance Committee recommended waiving the square footage fees as well as the administrative
fees for the January, 2019 Event; and
WHEREAS, as the square footage fees for this Event are approximately$4,300.00,and the
administrative fees are approximately$990.00, the Finance Committee recommended a waiver of
fees, in a total amount not-to-exceed $5,290.00.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Mayor and City Commission hereby accept
the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee, and approve the waiver of
special event square footage fees, and Police and Fire administrative fees associated with the 2019
Miami Beach Fitfest Event, to be held in North Beach on January 26-27, 2019, with such waiver in
an amount not to exceed $5,290.00. /�,�

RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the Resolution.
ANALYSIS
At the February 23, 2018 Finance and Citywide Projects Committee meeting, the Committee
recommended waiving the square footage fees as well as the administrative fees for the upcoming Fit
Fest event to take place in North Beach from January 26-27, 2019.
The square footage fees for this event total $4,300, and the administrative fees total $990; for a
grand total of waivers not to exceed $5,290.
CONCLUSION
Administration recommends accepting the Resolution.
