A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INVESTIGATE FRANCHISING OF PRIVATE
HAULERS OF SOLID WASTE.
WHEREAS , the City of Miami Beach has had a number of
problems with the private haulers of waste in the City; and
WHEREAS, such problems put burdens on the City Sanitation
crews; and
WHEREAS , the initiation of a franchise system would allow
the City to closely regulate the private hauler services; and
WHEREAS , the City would realize some revenue from fran-
chising these services which could be used to offset budget defi-
ciencies in the City Sanitation Division;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA that the City Manager be author-
ized to investigate franchising of private haulers of solid waste.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 21st day of July , 1982 .
