A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
APPLY TO THE FLORIDA ENDOWMENT OF THE HUMANITIES
FOR GRANT FUNDS TO SPONSOR A LOCAL LEADERSHIP
FORUM.
WHEREAS, the Florida Endowment of the Humanities in
cooperation with the Office of Governor Robert Graham, has made
available grants of up to ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1, 000. 00) to
counties and cities interested in sponsoring Local Leadership
Forums ; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of said Forum is discussion,
among representative local leaders of the topic, "How is long-term
leadership serving the common good possible in a context of short-
term expectations and special interest demands?" and
WHEREAS, said forums will increase communications between
the citizenry and its elected and appointed officials;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, that the City Manager be and the same
is hereby authorized to apply to the Florida Endowment of the
Humanities on behalf of the City of Miami Beach for grant funds to
sponsor a Local Leadership Forum.
