Gary Johnson DJ Irie Ruban Roberts Administrative Liaisons Ian Robinson - Miami Beach Police Department Amy Mehu - City Manager's Office Attendees Present: Commissioner Arriola, Ruban Roberts, Wendy Kallergis, and Rev. Garry Johnson Members Absent: DJ Irie Motion 1: In an effort to activate meaningful cultural programming, The MDW Panel will meet with hoteliers and possible promoters to coordinate activations within Hotels. Motion made by Ruban Roberts Seconded by Rev. Gary Johnson Motion Passed 4-0 Motion 2: In order to assess and evaluate the success of recommendations made by the panel, members would like to request that the City provide members a room during the 2018 Memorial Day Weekend. Motion made by Rev. Gary Johnson Seconded by Ruban Roberts Motion Passed 4-0 Motion 3: The MDW Panel has requested that Mickey Markoff, Salute to America's Heroes event producer, provide a detailed budget and expenses including back-up details for the planned concert. Motion made by Rev. Gary Johnson Seconded by Ruban Roberts Motion Passed 4-0 Motion 4: As part of programming recommendations made by the panel, members requested that City staff coordinate and curate a barbecue competition in areas south of 10th street. Motion made by Ruban Roberts Seconded by Rev. Gary Johnson Motion Passed 4-0 Motion 5: As an additional programing recommendation, the panel has requested staff coordinate and curate a celebrity basketball game as well as identify and allocate any necessary funding. Motion made by Rev. Gary Johnson Seconded by Ruban Roberts Motion Passes 4-0 The Mayor's Memorial Day Weekend Blue Ribbon Panel urges the Mayor and Commission to support the above requests.
