SUBJECT: Unity in the Community Panel iscussion
The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform you of the upcoming "Unity in the
Community" panel discussion. This event seeks to open a dialogue in our community
around how to make Memorial Day Weekend better for residents and guests alike in
Miami Beach, and to underline our City's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
This panel event is free and open to the public and is scheduled for Wednesday, April
18, 2018 from 6:00 - 9:OOpm at the Betsy Hotel, 1440 Ocean Drive (entrance on Collins
Avenue). Moderating the discussion will be Commissioner Ricky Arriola and Vice Chair
of the Mayor's Memorial Day Weekend Blue Ribbon Panel, Ruban Roberts the NAACP
Miami -Dade President. Panelists include: Betsy Hotel owner Jonathan Plutzik, Miami
Beach Police Spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez, Professor of African American History
Tameeka Bradley Hobbs, Headliner Market Group CEO Mike Gardner, GMCVB Vice
President of Multicultural Tourism & Development Connie Kinnard and Miami Beach
resident Jeff Feldman.
