THE CITY OF MIAMI BE4CH, FLORIDA, COI.II: DING J. S. STEPHENSON AT
THE END OF TWENTY YEARS AS CHIEF OF MIAMI BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, J. S. STEPHENSON has just completed twenty
years of service as Chief of the Fire Department of the City of
Miami Beach, Florida; and
WHEREAS, at the time of his taking office, said City
was but a village with practically no fire protection, and said
City has in the last twenty years grown and developed in an
unprecedented manner, the Fire Department having kept pace with
the development of said City, and while not large is certainly
one of the best in the United States, Fig ghcswn by tho romc kc.h10
fire record of said City during said period; and
...HEREAS, credit for said development and said record
is due almost entirely to the untiring efforts and ability of
Chief Stephenson;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that Chief Stephenson be and
he is hereby commended for his efforts and the results obtained
thereby and for the splendid and efficient Fire Department which
the City has enjoyed during all of said period and of which the
entire City is very proud; and
BE IT FURTI-IE:R RESOLVED that Chief Stephenson be and
he is hereby congratulated upon having completed said twenty
years' service in such a highly commendable and efficient manner.
