RESOLUTICN NO. 5279 44,
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING COUNCILMAN
JOHN H. LEVI ON THE LONG AND VALUA=
BLE SERVICE RENDERED BY HIM TO THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH.
: . WHEREAS, the Honorable John H. Levi was first elected A:
a member of the governing body of the City of Miami Beach in
October of 1918, and h.as b; rr continuously retained by the
citizens in"this office eveOsince h;Ls ,first term, having been
five times elected to 'a four year term;'' and
WHEREAS, his associates have seen fit to retain him as
President of this Body throughoutthe major portion of his
long term, and as- Mayor and presiding officer for the past
four years, and •
WHEREAS, the suo;Cessive members of the changing City •\ `
Council personnel have, throughout the years, grown to look ,-
up to "John" as the Dean of Councilmen, and to lean on his
l ' judgment.and knowled , born of his many years of devotion
,. and service to a Cit which he has so materially helped build
Iv '` and develop from its inception, and 0;,
WHEREAS, were it not' for his keen insight and perception,
his ready wit and dry humor, many trying situations would not
have quickly resolved themselves into pleasant passing memories,
as has 'been the case on so innumerable occasions, and
WHEREAS, this Body has now soon fit to shift responsibili-

ties from;ythe shoulders of one who for so long a period has
carried these responsibilities so faithfully,
C NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY :COUN IL OF THE
CITY OF MIAI I BEACH, FLORIDA, that we do hereby humbly and sin-
cerely commend our Dean of the Council, John H. Levi, for his
faithful devotion and untiring service rendered to his City
these nearly twenty-three years, and we assure him by this reso-
lution of our sincere confidence in him and our pleasure in
continued service with him on this City Council.
