RESOLUTION NO. 5329.
WHEREAS, we are advised that application is being
made to the War Department by Adams Sunray Isles, Inc. , for
permission to construct an island in Biscayne Bay, adjoining
the 79th Street County Causeway, as shown on a set of three
sketches numbered Sheet 1 of 3, Sheet 2 of 3 and Sheet 3 of
3, prepared under date of June 25th, 19 +1 by R. W. Thomas,
Agent, and
WHEREAS, this Body is of the opinion that the construction
and development of such an island, in the contemplated location,
would not only create a serious traffic hazard on this very
busy 79th Street Causeway thoroughfare but it would also be
an impediment to navigation and have a detrimental effect on
the marine life of Biscayne Bay,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby go on
record as protesting against this contemplated island con—
struction, by dredging, filling and bulkheading, as indicated
on the sketches aforementioned and we do hereby petition the
War Department to withhold the permit which we understand is
being sought by the Adams Sunray Isles, Inc. , as described
above.
