Morales, City Manager DATE: May 15, 2018 SUBJECT: Memorial Day Weekend Cultural Programming Update The purpose of this Letter to Commission (LTC) is to provide an update on the cultural programming set to take place from May 25-27, 2018, during Memorial Day Weekend 2018. As recommended by the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Panel on Memorial Day Weekend, and as further approved by City Commission, for the first time ever, the City of Miami Beach will present an array of smaller, low impact cultural programming for our residents and guests over Memorial Day Weekend. The confirmed schedule of programming is below, including the Air & Sea Show, produced with City support and executed by an independent event producer. All events are free and open to the public. FRIDAY, May 25, 2018 8pm Free Movie Showing at Soundscape Park: CREED featuring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone SATURDAY, May 26, 2018 10am-4pm Air & Sea Show 4pm Mayors Basketball Challenge on Ocean Drive, presented in partnership with the Irving Thomas Elite Basketball Academy: Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber takes on Miami Mayor Frances Suarez, with special celebrity players. 5pm Poetry reading with writer/lawyer/activist Reginald Dwayne Betts in the Atrium at The Betsy Hotel 6-9pm Free Concert on the beach featuring Shaggy, MAX, and Kent Jones 7-11 pm Jazz with Nicole Yarling Duo in the Lobby of The Betsy Hotel SUNDAY, May 27, 2018 10am-4pm Air & Sea Show 4-5:30pm Youth Poetry Slam with Silent Revolution, Dranoff 2 Pianos, hosted by Octavia Yearwood, in The Atrium at The Betsy Hotel. 6pm ONGOING: Gospel Concert presented from the balcony of The Victor hotel serenading Ocean Drive, presented in partnership with the Adrienne Arsht Center and featuring Miami Mass Choir and Second Chapter.
