Resolution 5409 RESOLUTION N0. 5409
WHEREAS, the transportation of passengers for
hire over and across the Venetian Causeway is now being
satisfactorily handled by passenger automobiles commonly
known as jitney busses, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami
Beach is informed that petitions are being circulated
seeking to do away with this particular form of trans—
portation over and across said Venetian Causeway, and to
substitute therefor large transportation busses, and.
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach that the continuance of the
present means of transportation is to the best interests
of the City of Miami Beach, and has proven satisfactory,
and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Council
of the City of Miami Beach that the operation of large
busses over and across said Venetian Causeway would hinder
traffic, create a hazard and be objectionable in many
other features,
NOW, THEREFORE, Be it Resolved that the said
City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, shall
and does hereby go on record as being opposed to the
proposed substitution of large`transportation busses for
the present jitney bus service over and across the
Venetian Causeway.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of November,
