Resolution 5476 RESOLUTION NO. 5476
WHEREAS, the Dade County Community Chest is now
conducting a drive to raise the sum of 3297,000 for the
year beginning March 1, 1942, and ending February 28,
1943, and
WHEREAS, the Community Chest funds go to help a
total of twenty—two participating agencies, all of which
are worthy, charitable organizations, and
;WHEREAS, if it were not for the Community Chest,
each of said participating agencies would be forced to
raise its individual funds by a separate annual drive, and
WHEREAS, the assistance being rendered by the
Community Chest and its participatin.g agencies are of
inestimable value and must be continued if a collapse of
our economic structure is to be averted, and
WHEREAS, many employers have cooperated with the
Community Chest in inducing employees to contribute an
amount equal to one day' s salary and the merchants and other
business—men of the County have liberally contributed to
this worthy cause,
NOW, THEREFOPE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That the City Council of the City of Miami Beach,
Florida, heartily endorses the purposes of the Dade County
Community Chest and its efforts, and hereby calls upon and
urges City employees and the employees of all other business
establishments in the City to contribute to the Chest an
amount equal to one day' s salary and calls upon and urges
hotels and business establishments, and all other citizens
of the City to contribute to the cause as liberally as their
means shall permit.
