Resolution 5605 RESOLUTION NO. 5605 WHEREAS, the Causeway connecting 79th Street in Miami with Normandy Isle in Miami Beach was originally designated"Everglades Avenue Causeway" but has long since been known as the "Seventy— Ninth Street Causeway" , and WHEREAS, this more commonly used designatiog,while locating this causeway in the City of Miami, tends to confuse its location in the City of Miami Beach by reason of the fact that it connects with 71st Street on the mainland of Miami Beach after crossing Normandy Isle, and WHEREAS, this Body has recently been petitioned by a group of Miami Beach property owners, owning properties in the north end of our city, calling attention to the confusion of strangers looking for the 79th Street Causeway on our 79th Street, and urging that said Causeway be re—named with some more appropriate or more prop- erly descriptive title to avoid this present confusion at the Miami Beach end, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that the Dade County Commissioners and the State Road Department be and they are hereby requested to give serious consideration to this, our petition, to select and officially adopt a more suitable name for this causeway now common— ly known as the Seventy—Ninth Street Causeway, and that copies of this resolution be sent to the Dade County Commissioners and to the State Road Department.
