Resolution 6016 RESOLUTION NO. 6016
WHEREAS, there is now pending before the United States
District Engineer application by Point Holding Corporation for
a modification of a permit issued to Dr. Joseph H. Adams on
January 7th, 1931, and modified by the War Department on March
28th, 1946, to construct bulkheads and to dredge, the dredging
material to be deposited behind the bulkheads to create an island
in Biscayne Bay at the Southerly side of the 79th Street Causeway,
Miami Beach, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
is of the opinion that the proposed work contemplated by said
application will interfere with navigation and with fishing and
pleasure boating; will be highly detrimental to the beauty of
Biscayne Bay; and will necessitate the expenditure, by the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, of many thousands of dollars in moving
the City' s water mains to a new highway location,
NOW, TEEREs ORE, BE IT RESOLTED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that the said City Council does
hereby protest the proposed work contemplated in said application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby
directed to mail to the United States District Engineer a certified
copy of this resolution.
