1675-24 Brown's Hotel MON 08 APR 91 Richard Rickles p Ac n 1 G 3 7P1'1 Department of Historical Preservation Board 1700 Convention Center Drive Miami Beach, FL 33139 Dear Mr. Rickles, I enjoyed talking to you about the "Brown Hotel" today on the telephone. , Enclosed are the two items I found while doing research in The Miami Herald. The hotel is/was(?) located at 112 Ocean Drive according to the Sanborn Fire Insurance maps. If the hotel has been demolished, I wonder if any remnants of the ship "foundation" remain. The second article describes planned alterations that may or may not have been carried out as the later Sanborn maps still show the building as two stories. If I had a more precise date as to the construction of the building I would like to do some further research. How would a building of this construction in this location have fared during the 1926 hurricane? Could the unique foundation have helped it survive the storm?
