Resolution 5861 RESOLUTION NO. 5563 WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Miami Beach provides that general elections shall be held on the first Tuesday in June; and WHEREAS, many of the qualified voters and free-holders are absent from the City during the month of June and during the Summer months; and. WHEREAS, the members of the City Council, at its meeting of May 2nd, 1945, recorded their unanimous opinion that the Charter should be amended so that general elections shall be held in December instead of in June as now provided, and the City Council deems the change to be to the best interest of the City, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, tthat the City Attorney be and he is hereby directed to prepare and, in due time, arrange for the passage by the Florida Legislature of an amendment to the City Charter to provide that the next general election in the City of Miami Beach shall be held on the first Tuesday in December, 1947, and that general elections shall be held on the first Tuesday in December every two years thereafter.
