Resolution 5874 RESOLUTION NO. 5874
WHEREAS, the Dade County Commissioners propose to erect
an auditorium for the purpose of holding public meetings and con—
ventions therein; and
WHEREAS, the cost of construction of such an auditorium
wouldnecessitate a levy of taxes throughout the County of Dade; and
WHEREAS, the County millage for the year 1945 is more than
thirty ( 30%) per cent greater than in previous years and the erection
of said auditorium would necessitate a still greater increase; and
WHEREAS, the freeholders of the City of Miami Beach have
heretofore voted bonds for the construction of .a municipal auditorium
in said. City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida,
is of the opinion that the construction of an auditorium is a munici—
pal and not a county function,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Miami Beach, Florida, that an objection to and a protest against
the construction of an auditorium by the County of Dade be and the same
is hereby made.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this reso—
lution be delivered to the Dade County Commissioners by the City Clerk.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of September, A.D. 1945.
