Resolution 5875 RESOLUTION NO. 5875 WHEREAS, the State Railroad Commission has scheduled a number of hearings to be held in Orlando, Florida, upon applica- tions filed with the State Railroad Commission for permission to engage in the business of transporting passengers for compensation in Miami Beach and in territory adjacent to Miami Beach; and WHEREAS, Orlando is approximately 250 miles from Miami Beach and consequently the residents and citizens of Miami Beach, and their representatives, who may desire to oppose such applications, will be subjected to great and unwarranted inconveniences and ex- pense in attending such hearings; and WHEREAS, holding hearings in places distant from Miami Beach upon aoplications to render transportation service in Miami Beach, in the opinion of the City Council, is beneficial solely to the acipli- i cants and is consequently detrimental to the public; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that, by and through the adoption of this resolution, vigorous protest is hereby made against the action of the State Railroad Commission in holding hearings in Orlando, Florida, upon applications filed with said Railroad Commission for permission to engage in the business of transporting passengers for compensation in Miami Beach and territory adjacent to Miami Beach. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to send a duly authenticated copy of this resolution to the Secretary of the State Railroad Commission as official notification of the action taken hereby.
