Resolution 6332 RESOLUTION NO. 6332
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council that
Col. E. P. Owen Jr. , Executive Secretary of the Florida League of Muni-
cipalities, has tendered his resignation to the Executive Committee of
that organization; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Municipalities, since its inception
more than two decades ago, has rendered an outstanding service to the
cities and towns of Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Municipalities, in banding together
the cities and towns in Florida, has promoted a more friendly relation-
ship among the officials of the cities and towns and their citizens,
which has redounded to the benefit of all of the municipalities in
particular and the State in general; and
WHEREAS, the organization of the cities and towns into one unit
has largely resulted from the organizing genius and untiring efforts of
Col. E. P. Owen, Jr. , who has been the Executive Secretary of the Florida
League of Municipalities since its formation; and
WHEREAS, the Florida League of Municipalities can ill afford to
part with the invaluable services of Col. E. P. Owen, Jr. ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, hereby goes on record as urging Col. Owen to
reconsider his announced intention of resigning his position in the
Florida League of Municipalities, and urges him to withdraw his proffered
resignation, in order that he may be made available for continued service
and contribution to the progress and development of the Florida League
of Municipalities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be directed
to the attention of Col. Owen and copy be furnished to members of the
Executive Committee of the Florida League of Municipalities.
