Resolution 6237 RESOLUTION NO. 6237 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMMII BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING AN ELECTION AT WHICH THERE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO A VOTE THE MATTER OF A MAXIMUM LEVY OF TWO MILLS FOR PUBLI- CITY AND ADVERTISING PURPOSES FOR EACH OF THE YEARS 1947 AND 1948. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, deems it advisable to levy, for each of the years 1947 and 191+8, for publicity and advertising purposes, a maximum of two (2) mills on the dollar of the taxable cash value of all property in said City, both real and personal, as provided in Section 43 of the City Charter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida: SECTION 1: That a special election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, from Seven o' clock, A. M. until Seven o' clock P. M. on the 22nd day of April, A. D. , 1947, for the purpose of submitting to a vote of the duly registered and qualified voters of said City who are freeholders therein, the question whether the City Council shall, for each of the years 191+7 and 1948, have the authority to levy for publicity and advertising purposes, a maximum of two (2) mills on the dollar of the taxable cash value of all property in said City, both real and personal. SECTION 2: That the City Clerk, who is also the Supervisor of Registration, open the books of said City from Nine o' clock A. M. until Five o' clock P. M. each day, Sundays and Holidays and Half-holidays excepted, from March 20th, 191+7, to April 16th, 1947, both inclusive, for the purpose of registering those electors who are qualified to register for this election, and after said April 16th, 1947, no elector shall be registered for said election. SECTION 3: For the purpose of holding and conducting said election, the City of Miami Beach has been divided into voting precincts or election districts with polling places therein as follows: PRECINCT NO. 25: Being all of the area within the City of Miami Beach lying North of the centerline of 51st Street, the Polling Place of which shall be at the 69TH STREET FIRE STATION, situated at 6860 Indian Creek Drive. PRECINCT NO. 26: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the centerline of 51st Street ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the center- line of 34th Street to Biscayne Waterway, thence Westerly along the center- line of Biscayne Waterway to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the AUDITORIUM OF NORTH BEACH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, situated on the North- east corner of the intersection of 41st Street and Chase Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 27: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 26, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 23rd Street to Dade Boulevard, thence along the centerline of Dade Boule- vard to Biscayne Bay, also including Belle Isle, Rivo Alto Island, Di Lido Island and San Marino Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the DADE BOULEVARD FIRE STATION, situated on the Northwest corner of the inter- section of Dade Boulevard and Pine Tree Drive. - 1 - PRECINCT NO. 28: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach, lying between the South line of Precinct No. 27, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 15th Street to Bay Road, thence South along the centerline of Bay Road to 14th Street, thence West along the centerline of 14th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at MUNICIPAL GOLF CLUB HOUSE, 21st Street & Washington Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE LIFE GUARD STATION situated 1 in Lummus Park on the Ocean Front at 10th Street. PRECINCT NO. 31: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3, to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shall be at the OLD CITY HALL BUILDING, situated at 617 Collins Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 32: Being all the area within the City of Miami Beach lying South of the South line of Precinct No. 31, also including the Causeway property and the islands South of the County Causeway, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE POLICE TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT BUILDING, situated at 111 Meridian Avenue. All being places where elections are usually held in said municipality. All electors shall vote at the Polling Places in the voting precincts in which the City Registration Books show that said electors reside. SECTION 4: That Notice of said election shall be given by publication in the Evening Sun and Daily Tropics, a newspaper of general circu- lation in the City of Miami Beach, Florida. Such publication shall be made at least once each week for four consecutive weeks next preceding the day upon which such election is to be held. SECTION 5: That said Notice of Election shall be substantially in the following form: "CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA. NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION. "NOTICE is hereby given that by resolution duly passed and adopted on March 19, 1947, an election has been called by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, and will be held in said City from seven o' clock A. M. until seven o' clock P. M. on the 22nd day of April, A. D. 1947, at which there shall be submitted to the duly registered and qualified voters of said City who are freeholders therein, the following question: .. 2 .. PRECINCT NO. 29: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 28, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocen to Biscayne Bay along the centerline of 11th Street and said line produced, the Polling Place of which shall be at THE FIRE STATION IN THE CITY HALL BUILDING, situated on 12th Street between Washington Avenue and Drexel Avenue. PRECINCT NO. 30: Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 29, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 7th Street to Alton Road, thence South along the centerline of Alton Road to 6th Street, thence Westerly along the centerline of 6th Street to Biscayne Bay, the Polling Place of which shall be at the LIFE GUARD STATION, situated in Lummus Park on the Ocean Front at 10th Street . PRECINCT NO. 31 Being the area within the City of Miami Beach lying between the South line of Precinct No. 30, ON THE NORTH and A LINE ON THE SOUTH running Westerly from the Atlantic Ocean along the centerline of 3rd Street to Alton Road, thence along the South line of Lot 32 in Block 111 of Ocean Beach Addition No. 3 to Biscayne Bay, also including Star Island, Palm Island and Hibiscus Island, the Polling Place of which shallbe at the OLD CITY HALL BUILDING, situated at 617 Collins Avenue. M. , each day, Sundays, Holidays and Half-holidays excepted, from March 20th, 1947, to April 16th, 194+7, both inclusive, for the registration of persons qualified to register for said election. Mayor of City of Miami Beach, Florida." SECTION 6: That the form of ballot to be used at said election shall be in substantially the following form: "CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA SPECIAL ELECTION "Shall the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, have the authority, for each of the years 1947 and 1948, to levy, for publicity and adver- tising purposes, a maximum of two mills on the dollar of the taxable cash value of all property in said City, both real and personal? • . FOR LEVY • : AGAINST LEVY MAKE A CROSS (X) BEFORE YOUR CHOICE." SECTION 7: This resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of March, A. D. , 1947.
