Morales, City Manager /�ii/ DATE: June 11, 2018 SUBJECT: MIAMI BEACH TENNIS CENTER RENOVATION PROJECT The purpose of this Letter to Commission is to inform the Mayor and Commission that the Office of Capital Improvement Projects will commence renovation of the Miami Beach Tennis Center facility (formerly the North Shore Park Tennis Center) on Monday, June 18, 2018. This project is located at 501 72nd Street. The project includes the renovation of the existing tennis center facility, enclosure of the building, incorporation of new storefront windows and doors, improvement of the building fagade, air conditioning, new interior finishes that will include lighting, painting and mechanical systems upgrades. The construction will take approximately three (3) months. While the project is in progress, the contractor will work inside the facility with the exception of work required on the south side of the building that will impact the playground area for a brief period of time. Please note that the North Shore Park, youth center and the tennis courts will be open during construction, but the tennis center facility office, pro shop and interior restrooms will be closed. Temporary restrooms will be available in addition to the existing restrooms at the youth center facility. Court bookings and program registrations will be held out of the North Shore Youth Center. The staging area will be located at the handball courts on the north side of the building. It is important to note that the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Young Seniors Team and Individual Championships are scheduled to be held at both the Miami Beach and Flamingo Park Tennis Centers on October 19 — November 3, 2018. Although the timeline for construction is tight, it is anticipated that the Miami Beach Tennis Center will be operational and substantially complete for the tournament.
