Resolution 6263 RESOLUTION NO. 6263 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, FINDING AS TO THE NUMBER OF FREEHOLDERS LEGALLY QUAL- IFIED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 8TH, 1947; AND CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION AND DECLAR- ING THE RESULT TO BE FOR THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS IN THE TOTAL SUM OF $1,644,000.00 FOR THE PURPOSES IN THIS RESOLUTION STATED. WHEREAS, the City Clerk and Supervisor of Registration in the City of Miami Beach, Florida, has certified that the total number of freeholders who were qualified electors residing in said City, and legally qualified to participate in the Special Election held in said City on April 8th, 1947, was 3914, and WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns of the certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held and con- ducted said Special Election held on April 8th, 1947, such canvass having been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find anddeclare that the total number of freeholders who were qualified electors residing in said City andlegally qualified to participate in the Special Election held in said City on April 8th, 1947, was 3914, and that a majority thereof participated in said election, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby find and declare that the total number of votes cast in said election in favor of the approval of the bonds and the total number of votes cast in said election against the approval of the bonds were as follows: Upon the question 1: "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of 4,250,000.00, with interest at a rate hereafter to be determined, not exceeding 3% per annum, for the purpose of im- proving the main lines and pumping stations of its sanitary sewer sys- tem?" 2068 votes were cast, of which 1898 were "for bonds" and 170 were "against bonds". Upon the question 2: "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of $250,000.00, with interest at a rate hereafter to be determined, not eacceeding 3% per annum, for the purpose of install- ing pumps in its water system and constructing and extending water mains and lines?" 2040 votes were cast, of which 1867 were "for bonds" and 173 were "against bonds". (1) Upon the question 3: "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of 0394,000.00, with interest at a rate hereafter to be determined, not exceeding 3% per annum, for the payment of which a special annual tax will be levied, the amount of which levy will be re- duced by collections from special im- provement assessments made against abutting property, for the purpose of paving portions of each of the follow- ing highways : West 40th Street; 16th, 17th and 18th Streets; James, West, Michigan and Jefferson Avenues; Alton and Lincoln Roads; Ocean Court; and Alley between Euclid and Pennsylvania Avenues?" 1983 votes were cast, of which 1753 were "for bonds" and 230 were "against bonds". Upon the question 4: "Shall the City of Miami Beach, Florida, issue negotiable coupon bonds in the amount of 750,000.00, with interest at a rate hereafter to be determined, not exceeding 3% per annum, for the purpose of constructing an auditorium?" 2012 votes were cast , of which 1711 were "for bonds" and 301 were "against bonds". and, WHEREAS, a majority of the total number of freeholders who were qualified electors residing in said City, and legally quali- fied to participate in said Special Election, did vote therein, and WHEREAS, a majority of` the votes cast were in favor of the approval of the bonds, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby de- clare that the issuance of said bonds in the aggregate sum of 01,644,000.00 has been duly and legally approved by the voters, as provided by law. PASSED and ADOPTED this 9th day of April, A.
