Dear Henry,
I am writing a history of Miami Beach and ,
certainly, Carl Fisher ' s conduct vis-a-vis Jews
will be explored. In going through the Fisher
papers at the Historical Museum of Southern
Florida, I find documents that indicate Fisher was
more class conscious than he was anti-Semitic.
Several copies are enclosed.
• In discussing this with JoAnn Bass, she says that
you have some letters to document Fisher 's strong
anti-Semitism. I confess that I have not completed
my study of the Fisher papers, but have gone
through in the folder labeled "Jews. "
If you have some documents that isolate Fisher as
an anti-Semite, other than his restricted policies
at his hotels -- which the letters I enclose would
' show to be flexible -- I 'd appreciate you sharing
them with me.
