Dear Ann,
I 'm writing a book on the history of Miami Beach.
In the course of my research , JoAnn Bass turned
over to me your interview with Jesse Weiss. JoAnn
is one of the underwriters of the book , both in
dollars and in encouragement.
JoAnn told me I was free to use anything in the
interview with the exception of the extremely
personal passages. I guess she and I will do some
negotiating on that when I try to convince her
that an unfettered history of Miami Beach should
be unfettered.
But that is not why I write you. Although JoAnn
gave me permission to quote from the interview, I
am uncomfortable with that. It was you who did the
interviewing, you who assembled the questions for
Jesse to answer. I would feel much better if Ann
Bishop also signed off on my using quotes from the
interview. I do not expect to use much. I also
would acknowledge Ann Bishop both in the
bibliography and in any acknowledgment foreword I
would write.
