Fred Beckmann, Public Works Director, and Robert Halfhill, Assistant Public Works Director, are you aware of the annotated Plat Book? I previously wrote a history of Miami Beach (1994) and was greatly aided in that task by being allowed to peruse the city's historic files. To assist me with the preparation of this new book, I am again seeking permission to look through the city's historic files. In addition, I seem to recall that an annotated Plat Book is somewhere in the building — I think in the Public Works Department—that was kept by longtime employee Aristotle Ares and which shows the ever-changing places and names of Miami Beach properties. I'd love some time with that as well. I'd appreciate hearing from you. My phone is (305) 235-1130; my fax is (305) 233-0522; my cell is (305) 542-3526. Thank you.
