Barreiro, Republican * Steve Leifman, Democrat MIAMI BEACH Ballot questions On Tuesday, Miami Beach voters will vote on four questions regarding city affairs. Here are the questions, as they will appear on the ballots: Runoff election one week after general election; vice-mayor selected within thirty days from runoff Shall Miami Beach City Charter Section 8 be amended to change the runoff election date from two weeks after general election to one week after general election and changing vice- mayor selection date from three to thirty days after runoff election? * Yes * No Amendment to section 40 of the city charter changing the qualifying periods for elected office Shall Section 40 of the Miami Beach City Charter be amended to change the commission election qualifying period from not more than one hundred and thirteen days nor less than one hundred nine days prior to said election to the four consecutive days immediately following the first Monday in September, in those years in which a General Election is held? * Yes * No One percent increase in room rent portion of resort tax Shall Section 43 1/2 of the Miami Beach City Charter be amended to increase, by one percent, the resort tax on room rent, to be used for: (a) 50% for public incentives for convention center headquarters hotel development, and upon retirement of all debt related thereto, to be used as in (b) below; (b) 50% for promotion of tourism related activities and facilities, and developing, improving and maintaining tourism related public facilities? * Yes * No Limitation on sale or lease of park, recreation, or waterfront land located within Miami Beach Shall Miami Beach Charter Section 6 be amended requiring referendum
