Resolution 6658 RESOLUTION NO. 6658 WHEREAS, Mr. A. L. Perper appeared before the City Council on August 18, 1948, and suggested that the Mayor issue a proclamation setting aside a date to be known as "Cuba Day" , for the purpose of fostering closer relationship between Cuba and our own country, and to show the appreciation of the citizens of Miami Beach to the people of Cuba visiting our City; and WHEREAS, the Presidents' Council of Iiliami Beach, Florida, had agreed to sponsor such a day; and WHEREAS, the City Council did on that day authorize the Mayor to proclaim a "Cuba Day", and September 6th, 1948, was designated as that day; and WHEREAS, on "Cuba Day" the festivities and entertainment presented at Flamingo Park were enjoyed by all those who attend- ed and the entire program deemed a success ; and WHEREAS, in view of the enthusiastic response received, many Miami Beach residents are of the opinion that "Cuba Day" should become an annual event; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we, the City Council of the City of Miami Beach, Florida, do commend Mr. Perper for having made .such an excellent suggestion and extend their thanks to him for the part he played in making this day a success.
