A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, CANVASSING THE
RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD DECEMBER
23, 1947, AND DECLARING THE RESULT TO BE FOR
THE APPROVAL OF THE MEASURE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE
NO. 824, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON ITS THIRD AND
FINAL READING ON THE 19TH DAY OF NOVEMBER,
1947.
WHEREAS, this City Council has made a canvass of the returns of
the certificates of the Inspectors and Clerks who held and conducted
the Special Election held on December 23, 1947, such canvass having
been made solely, exclusively and entirely from such returns;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVET) by the City Council of the City
of Miami Beach, Florida, that we do hereby find and declare that the
total number of votes cast in said election for the approval of the
measure and the total number of votes cast in said election against
the approval of the measure were as follows:
Upon the question: "SHALL THE MEASURE KNOWN AS ORDINANCE NO.
824, PASSED AND ADOPTED ON ITS THIRD AND
FINAL READING ON THE 19th DAY OF NOVEMBER,
1947, AND ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZ-
ING THE SOUTHERN BELL TELEPHONE AND
TELEGRAPH COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND
ASSIGNS, TO ESTABLISH, CONSTRUCT , MAINTAIN
AND OPERATE ITS TELEPHONE POLES, WIRES AND
OTHER TELEPHONE PROPERTY UPON, ALONG,
ACROSS AND UNDER THE PUBLIC STREETS, ROADS,
LANES, ALLEYS, AVENUES, BOULEVARDS AND
OTHER PUBLIC HIGHWAYS AND PLACES IN THE
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA" , BE APPROVED
OR DISAPPROVED?" 321 votes were cast, of
which 312 votes were "For the Measure" and
9 votes were "Against the Measure".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we do hereby declare
that the measure known as Ordinance No. 824, passed and adopted on its
third and final reading on the 19th day of November, 1947, has been
duly and legally approved by the voters as provided by law.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 27th day of December, A. D. 1947.
