Resolution 2018-30331 RESOLUTION NO. 2018-30331 A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FINANCE AND CITYWIDE PROJECTS COMMITTEE, AT ITS MAY 18, 2018 MEETING, AND APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF A PERIMETER FENCE AT POLO PARK, ALONG 42ND STREET AND MERIDIAN AVENUE. WHEREAS, Nautilus Middle School parents, along with community members surrounding Polo Park, have requested a fence to be installed along the southern and eastern perimeters of the park at 42nd Street and Meridian Avenue in order to enhance safety within the school and park, and to assist in controlling access to and from the park during school hours; and WHEREAS, at the April 25, 2018 Presentation and Awards City Commission Meeting, a discussion item regarding a mid-year capital budget amendment for the funding of the installation of a perimeter fence at Polo Park, along 42"d Street and Meridian Avenue, was referred to the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee ("FCWPC"); and WHEREAS, At the May 18, 2018 FCWPC meeting, the Administration presented the scope provided by the parents and other community members, and advised the cost for this project would be $24,730, (inclusive of permitting and contingency costs) and the FCWPC moved the item to the full Commission with a favorable recommendation; and WHEREAS, since this project does not reach the threshold to be considered a capital project, funding will come from projected savings within the Parks and Recreation Department Operating Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, that Mayor and City Commission hereby accept the recommendation of the Finance and Citywide Projects Committee at its May 18, 2018 meeting and approve the installation of a perimeter fence at Polo Park, along 42nd Street and Meridian Avenue. Since this project does not reach the threshold to be considered a capital project, funding will come from projected savings within the Parks and Recreation Department Operating Budget. The project is expected to be completed over the summer break.
